FAQ
Did we see you peeking at us out your window?

Well sort of...  You see my cat Mr. Grizz is fascinated by the blinking lights, so he is often perched on the couch peeking through the blinds.  He's not watching you, he just enjoys the lights as well.

Why do you do this?

To create memories!  Do you remember when you were a child looking at all the decorated houses?  On occasion you would see 'that one' house that for some reason stood out among all the others.  Maybe it was lots and lots of lights, or maybe something unusual in the display.  As you grew older you would be in a conversation and say to someone, "remember that one house that had....."  This is what I'm talking about, Memories.

In addition to making memories, I have always loved Christmas Lights, and God has given me a talent with computers.  So this was a great way to bring them together and create something just a little different from other displays in the area.

How long did it take you?
  • Nativity Scene - Construction 3 weeks off and on.
  • Mega Tree - Construction 1 week off and on.
  • Mini Trees - I had two people helping me and we spent nearly 3 hours making the 9 mini trees.
  • Arches - These guys are 20feet long and take for ever to wrap, I think it took me most of a week or more to wrap them with a few hours each evening.
  • Light Setup in yard - It takes 5 or 6 days to setup everything.
  • Light tear down - It takes two days to take everything down.

How much is your electric bill?

The bill was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.  I will just say that my wife and I were delightfully surprised.

How many lights do you have?
There are over 25,000 lights this year synchronized to music.  In order to run this display we also needed around 2,000 and some feet of extension cords.

Do you have your own Radio Station? How are you transmitting to my radio?
We use a small (low power) FM transmitter to broadcasts on 88.9FM. It only goes a short distance which allows people to listen to the music within sight of our display.

How do you control the lights?
Everything is controlled with software and hardware from Light-O-Rama. Our display uses 96 different channels which allows us to control almost every element in our display between White, and Blue.  It takes about 2 hours to choreograph every 1 minute of music.  The displays themselves also take a long time to build, such as the Nativity scene and the MegaTree.

What do the neighbors think?
My neighbors right next door on either side tell me they really enjoy the display.
